About me
I love the freelance life I’ve created, doing the things I enjoy most in the world – meeting people and telling stories. My business started life as Belfast News & Features in 2016, then became Jade Beecroft Editorial in 2026. I like to practice what I call ‘BIZ-NICE’; trying to have a positive impact through my profession. If you work with me I will always treat the information you give me with respect and help you tell your story in the best possible way. We can raise awareness of causes close to your heart, publicise your business or passion project, or cover a difficult subject with sensitivity. And if you’re a commissioning editor you’ll find me honest, hardworking and as straight-forward as they come.
Hi, I’m Jade the Journalist!

Alliteration aside – that pretty much sums me up. I produced my first newspaper, The Beecroft Nosey Parker, from my bedroom, aged 10, with my little brother as my unwilling subeditor. We had a circulation of two copies (our grandparents) and a hard-hitting news agenda consisting mainly of updates on the family pets. Then it was onto work experience at a local newspaper and an NCTJ-accredited degree in journalism at The University of Sheffield – my hometown.

From my first job as a cub reporter at The Sheffield Star, I spent time working at a news agency in Edinburgh, did a stint in London as a health reporter for BUPA’s publications, then moved back into local news – initially as health correspondent at The Derby Telegraph, then onto the newsdesk. From there I hopped across the M1 to The Nottingham Post to become news editor – arguably one of the toughest roles in the newsroom.

I became self-employed in 2016 when I moved to Northern Ireland. You could say it was a leap of faith; I relocated to a different country, moved in with my boyfriend and started my own business all within the space of a month. Luckily the gamble paid off and I now write features for a wide variety of local, national and even international publications. As for the boyfriend… reader I married him!
When I’m not working I love hanging out with my husband and friends. I’m a typical millennial; it doesn’t take much to get me up dancing, I’m wedded to a skinny jean and I’m pretty hopeless with technology. I only have to wink at my computer for it to have a meltdown. I love food, movies, travel and trying new things, and I’m a completely obsessive dog mum. If my Labrador Molly can’t come, then frankly I don’t want to go either. If you’re Zooming with me or we’re chatting on the phone, you can be sure the dog will be in the background somewhere – she’s definitely a more enthusiastic employee than my little brother ever was!

Like many journalists, I’ve also written a novel or two and dream of being an author. You can find me at The Lisa Richards Agency. I’m also an active member of The London Writers’ Salon and Sophie Hannah’s Dream Author programme.
